Frequently asked questions
We understand you may have questions about our care, so we have compiled answers to help you learn more about our services and approach.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. In Ontario, Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers, meaning you can book an assessment directly without a doctor’s prescription. However, some private extended healthcare insurance plans require a physician's referral note for claim reimbursement. We recommend checking your policy details beforehand.
Which services will be available at opening?
KineX will offer physiotherapy and rehabilitation, manual therapy, sports injury treatment and post-operative rehabilitation. Additional services will be introduced as our team grows—please contact us to confirm availability for specific treatments.
Do you offer direct billing to extended health insurance?
We’re working with insurance providers to offer direct
billing for added convenience. Please contact our team with any billing
questions or to check availability before your visit. Coverage depends on your
individual insurance plan.
What if my insurance doesn’t cover the full cost?
If your insurance covers only part of your treatment cost, you’ll pay the remaining balance at your appointment. We’ll provide a receipt that you can submit to a secondary insurance plan, if applicable.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit is about getting to know you and understanding what’s affecting your movement. We’ll listen to your concerns, review your health history and assess the areas relevant to your symptoms. We’ll explain what we find, answer your questions and agree on a treatment plan that fits your goals. When appropriate, we’ll begin treatment and share simple exercises or advice to get you started at home.
When can I start physiotherapy after surgery?
You can start physiotherapy when your surgeon recommends it. Contact us with your post-operative instructions, and we’ll help plan your recovery.
What should I wear to my physiotherapy or rehab sessions?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothing that allows easy movement and lets your therapist examine the affected joint or limb (e.g., shorts for knee, hip, or ankle issues; a tank top or loose T-shirt for neck, upper back, or shoulder concerns).
How long are the treatment sessions?
Your initial assessment typically lasts 45–60 minutes. Follow-up appointments provide 30 minutes of focused, one-on-one care, tailored to your needs and may include hands-on therapy and supervised rehabilitation exercises.
Do you treat work-related injuries (WSIB) and Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA)?
Yes. We support rehabilitation for Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims as well as motor vehicle accident (MVA) rehabilitation through your auto insurance provider. Please bring your claim number, adjustor details, and incident date to your first visit.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat back and neck pain, joint and muscle conditions, sports injuries, and workplace injuries. We also support post-surgical recovery, concussion care, dizziness and balance concerns, with personalized treatment to help you move better and return to everyday activities.
Is the clinic accessible?
The clinic is designed to offer a welcoming, accessible and comfortable space for people with different mobility needs. If you need specific accommodations, let us know before your visit—we’re happy to help make your experience as smooth as possible.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll be happy to help you find the next available appointment that works for you.
