Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy at KineX
When pain keeps interfering with walking, exercise or everyday activities, it may be time to review your treatment options. At KineX Physio and Wellness, we assess whether shockwave therapy could complement your rehabilitation and support more comfortable movement.
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers acoustic energy to a targeted area through a handheld applicator placed against the skin.
It may help reduce pain and support recovery in selected tendon and soft-tissue conditions. Treatment is usually combined with strengthening exercises and guidance on managing activity.
Conditions We Can Assess
Plantar fasciitis and persistent heel pain affecting standing or walking.
Achilles tendinopathy, involving the tendon at the back of the ankle.
Patellar tendinopathy, sometimes called jumper’s knee.
Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, which can make gripping and lifting uncomfortable.
Selected shoulder tendon conditions, including some cases of calcific tendinopathy.
Your assessment helps determine whether shockwave is suitable for your condition, health history and stage of recovery.
What to Expect
We begin by discussing your symptoms, previous treatment and goals, then assess the affected area. If shockwave is appropriate, we explain the potential benefits, limitations and side effects before proceeding.
During treatment, the applicator delivers a series of pulses to the targeted area. You may feel rapid tapping, pressure or discomfort. We adjust the intensity to your tolerance and check in throughout the session.
Supporting Your Recovery
Your wider care plan may include progressive strengthening, mobility exercises and adjustments to activity. These help build your capacity for the movements and demands of daily life.
We’ll review your response and adjust your plan as needed.
Does It Hurt?
Treatment can be uncomfortable, particularly over a sensitive area. Let your clinician know how it feels so they can adjust it. Temporary soreness or redness may occur afterward.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The number and frequency of sessions depend on your condition and response to care. Your clinician will discuss a proposed plan after assessment. Results vary, and improvement cannot be guaranteed.
